Master in Geomatics and Natural Resources Evaluation

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has granted scholarships in favour of Ethiopian citizens to attend the Master in ‘Geomatics and Natural Resources Evaluation’, organized by the “Istituto Agronomico per l’Oltremare” – IAO of Florence.

The course is aimed to provide managers and senior staff with post-graduate training in state of the art geomatics technologies (Remote Sensing, Geographic Information Systems, Digital Cartography) applied to Natural Resources Management in Developing Countries. It is scheduled to start in November 2013 for a duration of 8 months.The theoretical part of the course will be held in Florence at the Vocational Centre of the Institute, while short field work will be carried out usually in developing countries.

The course is open to participants having a University Master Degree or equivalent degree in one of the following subjects:

-Agriculture Science; - Forestry Science; - Geological Science; - Natural and Environmental Science and other correlated subjects;

The working languages of the Course will be English. Preferred target participants are professionals from Geomantic sector or from Development Cooperation. The scholarship offered by the Italian Government includes the following: - School fee - Boarding and lodging - Health and accident insurance - Pocket money for the personal small expenses of the candidates

Applications should be submitted within and not later than September 9th, 2013 to the Embassy of Italy in Ethiopia. The applications properly filled should have as attached documents:

-University degree in all the subjects pertaining to the subject sector of the course; - specific professional working experience developed in the thematic sectors of relevance. Previous professional experience should be certified by the local employer through a letter of approval; -curriculum vitae of the applicant duly dated and signed; photocopy of the passport; - a declaration that the candidate will return to the country of origin upon completion of the course; - birth certificate.
