Master Irrigation Problems in Developing Countries

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has granted scholarships in favour of Ethiopian citizens to attend the Master in ‘Existing Problems of Irrigation Issues in Developing Countries’, organised by the “Istituto Agronomico per l’Oltremare” – IAO of Florence.

The course is aimed at providing a master degree to managers in the field of geo-agricultural water system and in particular in irrigation and drainage techniques, able to handle and plan the problems related to the sustainable development of agricultural areas of Developing Countries. It is scheduled to start in the month of November 2013 for a duration of 8 months. The course will be held in Florence at the Vocational Centre of the Institute, where the candidates will stay.

The course is open to participants in possession of:

- a University Degree (three year at least) in Agricultural Sciences, Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification; - a good knowledge of English language; - a specific professional working experience in the sector of thematic relevance, which will be considered as preferential title. The professional experience shall be certified by the local employer.

The scholarship offered by the Italian Government includes the following:

- travel expenses to and from the country of origin; - school fee; - board and lodging costs; - health and accident insurance for permanent disability and urgent hospitalization; - pocket money for personal small expenses. Applications should be submitted within and not later than September 9th, 2013 to the Embassy of Italy in Ethiopia with the approval of the relevant Ethiopian Authorities.

The applications properly filled should have as attached documents:

- curriculum vitae of the applicant duly dated and signed; - the original university degree and student record; - a certificate that proves good knowledge of English language - a photocopy of the passport; - a declaration that the candidate will return to the country of origin upon completion of the course;
